Match Play Corner

With so much going on with Match Play, we have decided to dedicate a section of the website to keep you up to date. We invite you to look around!

The EWGA Cup is an amateur match play competition conducted under the direction of the EWGA Association Headquarters. Competition is conducted in two stages:

Cup Qualifer - 18 holes of Four-Ball and 18 holes of Singles completed over 2 days to dtermine the teams that will advance to The Cup Finals. Regional Qualifiers will be held in Sacramento September 14-15.

National Championship - The Cup Finals 18 holes Four-Ball and 18 holes of Singles completed over 2 days to be held at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on October 19-20, 2013.
 
In this team event the OC team would field an 8-member team. Check below for current team standings.

There is the traditional California Cup to be held October 25-27, 2013 at Bayonet/Blackhorse 
in Monterey. The OC team fields 12 team members plus 2 alternates. Match play format is one 
day singles net, one day either partner’s alternate shot or partner’s better ball. Team membership will be determined July 1st by members’ participation and performance in six scheduled OC match play 
events prior to June 30th.

Event Recaps

April 21st Aliso Creek

We had 15 ladies enjoying their Sunday at beautiful Aliso Creek in Laguna Beach on April 21st. The weather was somewhat chilly but once the sun came out, it was perfect golf weather. There was a surprise sighting of a mother deer and her two babies running around the 4th hole.

The game of the day was eclectic, taking the best 9 holes net score. Everyone played the course twice to complete 18 holes.

The first place winner was one of our newest golfers. Danielle Palmateer with a net score of 23. WOW!!! That is low! 2nd place was Sandy Field with a new 25.5. Congratulations to our winners!

We return back to Aliso Creek on July 14. Plan to Join us!

Roger Dunn Series April 28th

The 2nd of 5 Roger Dunn Series events took place on April 28th at Goose Creek Golf Course. This course is one of the best maintained courses in So Cal. There were 28 ladies who competed for the best score for 3 par 3's, 3 par 4's and 3 par 5's. It was a fabulous golf day! After the round, everyone lunged on the patio and enjoyed the golf stores, their drinks and snacks provided by Germaine.

Santa DeSilva and Michelle Meanor played really well to take 1st and 2nd place Low Gross.
Cathy Gies and Diana Baker led the group and captured 1st and 2nd in Low Net.
1st place winners received $50 Roger Dunn Gift Card and 2nd place received $25 Roger Dunn Gift Card.
Continuing her lucky day, Santa Desilva won the raffle for the $100 Roger Dunn Gift Card!

The 3rd event will be held at Tijeras Creek on June 22nd. Come join the fun!
